n a major step toward rural water sustainability, UltraTech Cement Ltd. has constructed a 16-metre-long drum check dam in Jhaprahwa Tola, Dalla, under its CSR initiative focused on groundwater recharge and irrigation support.
The dam was officially inaugurated by Chief Development Officer Jagrati Awasthi, alongside senior company representatives and community leaders. Designed to slow water flow and increase local aquifer levels, this dam is expected to directly benefit hundreds of nearby farmers who rely on groundwater for their crops.
“This structure will support agriculture and groundwater revival in the region. It reflects a corporate’s real commitment to ecological and community needs,” said Awasthi.
The project was implemented with technical inputs from local panchayats and hydrology experts. Residents say it’s the first time in years that a corporate intervention has addressed water scarcity at the source, rather than via tanker-based relief.
🧭 But will this single dam mark the beginning of a larger water conservation network – or remain a PR highlight in a thirsty region still waiting for long-term solutions?
