Meghalaya Inaugurates 125 Community Centres for Forest-Linked Livelihoods

Tura | June 15, 2025 — Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma inaugurated 125 community centres under the MegLIFE project, a collaboration between the state and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), with CSR and international aid support.

The initiative targets forest-based communities in Garo Hills, enhancing skills, forest produce marketing, and sustainable land use. It’s one of the largest CSR-supported rural livelihood deployments in Northeast India.

🌾 Will these centres generate real income or remain showpieces without systemic market support?
